The Brass industries in Jamnagar were founded in the year of 1945. Over the seven decades of existence, Jamnagar Brass industries have observed ups and downs, till the milestone development in the year of 1955, when import licenses were liberally given to copper and zinc industries, and local technicians could rapidly 'reverse engineer' any particular machine brass parts with the supporting machining and tooling industry. During 1960 - 70, the group witnessed prompt development with the manufacturing of parts such as electrical appliances, bicycle tube valves, sanitary fittings, and other precision brass parts used in the automobile and electrical industries. The group caught about 97% of the domestic markets and rapidly substituted the imports market with its cost advantageous production and small-scale 'flexible specialization'.
